Misconceptions and a lack of knowledge are evident relating to the learning potential of people with Down syndrome. This has led teachers, psychologists and others to have low expectations of them. When young people reach adolescence, they are often moved to areas or programs that do not provide ongoing instruction or learning. Once past high school, unfortunately, there are even fewer opportunities.
