| Josephine Mills Research Awards 2010
The Down Syndrome Research Foundation (DSRF) established the Josephine Mills Research Awards in 2007 to honour and recognize outstanding researchers in the fields of Down syndrome (DS) and MEG research. Jo Mills was the founding Executive Director of the DSRF and passed away in 2008. Jo was a visionary and received numerous awards for service to the field of developmental disability in Canada. The Josephine Mills Research Awards have been named to recognize her contribution to the field of Down syndrome. The Josephine Mills Research Awards Gala will be held November 19th, 2010. This year we will recognize two categories of awards: 1. Exceptional Contribution to Research in Aging in Down syndrome: The first category will be awarded to an outstanding researcher who has made an exceptional contribution to research in the area of Aging/Dementia in DS and has demonstrated a high degree of leadership and dedication within the DS community. 2. Excellence in MEG Research in Developmental Disabilities: The second category will be awarded to an outstanding researcher or promising young scientist who has demonstrated excellence in MEG related research in developmental disabilities (e.g. Down syndrome, autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, FASD, etc.) and has demonstrated a high degree of innovation, creativity and leadership in MEG studies on infants and children. Deadline: The deadline for nominations is August 31, 2010. The final decision on the awards will be made by the Selection Committee and announced in September 2010. The presentation will be made at a Gala dinner during the Development Disabilities and Aging/Alzheimer's Disease conference to be held in Vancouver on Friday, November 19th, 2010.
