Variety Early Foundations Reading Program Launched

The Down Syndrome Research Foundation is pleased to announce the successful launch of the Variety Early Foundations Reading Program.

Thanks to a generous $44,000 grant from Variety: The Children's Charity, 15 children with Down syndrome ages 3-6 are learning foundational reading skills. The Variety Early Foundations reading program provides a successful launch into reading for children at a critical point of development. We strongly believe that the capacity of people with Down syndrome must be supported early in life and continue with targeted learning programs at each stage of life. The Variety Early Foundations reading program includes assessment, program design, material preparation and once weekly one to one instruction by a BC certified teacher who will guide progress and chart the course for continual development. Through our partnership with Variety, we hope to support a successful launch into lifelong reading for a new generation of children with Down syndrome.

We look forward to sharing the results of this project with our education partners when the program concludes in 2013.

Thank you to Variety for your support!
