As a retired transit operator with Coast Mountain Bus Company, I'm writing to show my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the many passengers I've picked up over the years, who were born with Down Syndrome.

You are the best possible passengers any transit operator could ever hope for.

You always stood near the bus stop post, you always showed your bus pass and you either took a seat or you moved down the aisle, without being told, so that others could also get onboard.

You were never rude, you never caused problems, you always knew where you were going and how to get there without assistance, you rang the bell appropriately and you got off in good time.

Congratulations to all of you for doing what so many passengers who are not developmentally challenged seem incapable of doing. You put them to shame. I applaud you and want you all to know you are appreciated and are a part of my best memories of being a transit operator.
