Eleanor has worked at the Down Syndrome Resource Foundation since 2008 and is a BC certified teacher with a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, specializing in reading and exceptionality, from Simon Fraser University, and an education degree from McGill University. Eleanor developed and taught the adult courses at DSRF, aimed at increased reading skills as well as social communication and community navigation skills. She also teaches children in the one-to-one reading programs for students age three to adult. Eleanor enjoys collaborating with school teams to design one-to-one reading interventions for school age children. As Director of Education Programs and Services, Eleanor mentors new teachers at DSRF, responds to community requests for information about teaching children with Down syndrome, manages DSRF group programs, supports the development of new programs and facilitates the Educator Webinar Series and other community presentations. Everyday she feels fortunate to work with such a talented and enthusiastic team and witness the great work they do.
