* Eligibility Criteria for Having a Child and Youth with Special Needs Social Worker in BC:

  • Age 0-19
  • Resident of BC
  • “3 Streams” for Eligibility:
    • Documented Developmental Disability
      • DSM IV Criteria for “Mental Retardation”
      • DSM V Criteria for “Intellectual Disability”
    • Diagnosed with Autism/Autism Spectrum Disorder
    • Assessed as Eligible for the At Home Program

Please note: Foundational programs such as infant development, supported child development, and school age therapies are available to all children with Down syndrome, regardless of whether or not you qualify for a social worker. However, these programs are voluntary and family driven, meaning they will not contact you, you need to contact them and request the services.
